Acceptable Use Policy

Rules and guidelines for using Nova Grid Hosting services responsibly.

Effective Date

This Acceptable Use Policy is effective as of July 12, 2026. It is published by Nova Grid Hosting LLC, the operator of Nova Grid Hosting, and forms part of our Terms of Service and SLA. Our registered business address is:

Purpose

This policy outlines prohibited activities and content on Nova Grid Hosting infrastructure. It applies to all customers and their end users. Violations may result in a warning, suspension, or termination of service depending on severity. Material changes to this policy will be announced to account holders by email at least 14 days before they take effect.

Prohibited Content

You may not host, store, or distribute any of the following on Nova Grid servers:

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM). This is removed immediately and reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and law enforcement. Accounts are terminated without notice.
  • Content that infringes copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, or other intellectual property rights. See our DMCA policy.
  • Malware, viruses, trojans, ransomware, spyware, rootkits, exploit kits, or command-and-control infrastructure
  • Phishing pages, fraudulent storefronts, fake login pages, identity-theft tooling, or other deceptive content designed to steal credentials or personal information
  • Content that is unlawful, defamatory, or promotes violence, terrorism, or the illegal sale of weapons, drugs, or regulated goods
  • Content that violates U.S. export-control laws, international sanctions, or applicable privacy laws

Prohibited Activities

You may not use Nova Grid Hosting services to:

  • Send unsolicited bulk email (spam), SPIM (instant-message spam), or SPIT (VoIP spam), or operate mailing lists without verifiable opt-in consent
  • Conduct or facilitate denial-of-service (DoS/DDoS) attacks, operate booter/stresser services, or participate in outbound DDoS
  • Operate botnets, command-and-control servers, or unauthorized scanning, probing, or penetration testing of third-party systems
  • Launch bruteforce attacks against any system
  • Operate traffic exchange services or engage in artificial traffic generation
  • Mine cryptocurrency on shared, reseller, or VPS plans (mining is prohibited unless explicitly authorized in writing on a dedicated plan)
  • Operate open proxies, open mail relays, unauthenticated mail forwarders, or Tor exit nodes
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other accounts, servers, or networks; circumvent authentication or security controls
  • Engage in port scanning, packet sniffing, or IP spoofing
  • Store or distribute pirated software, media, or other copyrighted materials without authorization

High-Risk Categories Requiring Prior Approval

The following may be hosted only on dedicated plans and with advance written approval from Nova Grid:

  • Adult content (lawful, consenting-adult content only; never CSAM or non-consensual imagery)
  • Gambling, lotteries, or sweepstakes sites
  • File-storage and file-sharing sites whose primary purpose is third-party file hosting
  • IRC servers and anonymization endpoints

Resource Usage

Hosting accounts are intended for web hosting purposes only. Shared and reseller plans are sold with documented CPU, memory, I/O, inode, and concurrent-process limits published on each plan page. You may not:

  • Use hosting space as a cloud storage locker, backup repository, CDN origin, or file distribution platform for content unrelated to your hosted website
  • Stream video or media content from shared hosting accounts. Shared hosting is not provisioned for media delivery workloads
  • Run background daemons, persistent processes, or cron jobs that consume excessive CPU or memory on shared hosting plans
  • Exceed the bandwidth or storage limits of your plan in a manner that degrades service for other customers

We reserve the right to throttle or suspend accounts that materially impact shared infrastructure performance. Contact us if you need a plan better suited to high-resource workloads.

Email Usage

If your hosting plan includes email services, you must:

  • Comply with CAN-SPAM, CASL, UK GDPR, EU GDPR, PECR, and all applicable anti-spam and privacy laws
  • Use verifiable opt-in for all marketing or bulk mail, and include a working unsubscribe mechanism
  • Use accurate headers and a legitimate "From" identity, with no spoofing or deceptive subject lines
  • Not send email to purchased, rented, or scraped contact lists

We may rate-limit outbound email to protect our IP reputation and ensure reliable delivery for all customers.

Security Obligations

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your hosting account, including all activity by users of your site:

  • Keep software (CMS, plugins, themes, frameworks, and custom code) patched. Abandoned, unpatched installations are the leading cause of compromise on our network.
  • Use strong, unique passwords and enable two-factor authentication where offered
  • Notify us promptly at abuse@novagridhosting.com if you suspect your account has been compromised

We reserve the right to suspend accounts that pose an active security risk to our infrastructure, including compromised sites actively distributing malware or participating in botnets.

DMCA and Copyright Complaints

Nova Grid Hosting responds to valid DMCA takedown notices in accordance with 17 U.S.C. § 512. Our designated agent and full notice/counter-notice procedure are published on the DMCA policy page. Send notices to dmca@novagridhosting.com.

Conduct Toward Staff

You agree to communicate with Nova Grid Hosting staff in a respectful manner. Harassment, threats, or sustained abusive language directed at our team may result in a warning or immediate account suspension at our discretion.

Enforcement

Violations of this policy are handled at our discretion based on severity:

  1. Warning and cure window: for first-time, non-urgent violations we notify the customer, cite the AUP section, and give a reasonable window (typically 24 to 72 hours) to remediate.
  2. Immediate suspension without prior notice: reserved for active malware distribution, active phishing pages, outbound spam in progress, CSAM, and lawful orders from competent authority.
  3. Termination: repeat violations, failure to remediate within a cure window, or a single severe violation (e.g., CSAM) may result in termination. Termination decisions are made by Nova Grid staff.

Backups and Data Retention

On suspension, account data is retained for 30 days unless we are legally required to preserve it longer or required to delete it sooner (e.g., CSAM). You may request an export during the retention window via a verified support channel. If an account is terminated rather than suspended, the deletion timelines in our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy apply instead: hosting content is deleted from our servers within 7 days and residual backup copies are purged within 30 days.

Lawful Process

We respond to valid subpoenas, warrants, and court orders from jurisdictions that apply to us. We will notify affected customers where legally permitted to do so.

Reporting Abuse

To report abuse originating from our network, email abuse@novagridhosting.com. Include URLs, timestamps with timezone, log excerpts, and your contact information. We aim to acknowledge reports within one business day.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Acceptable Use Policy to reflect changes in law, the threat landscape, or our service offerings. Material changes will be emailed to account holders at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the services after an update constitutes acceptance.
